Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend!!!

Queen Elizabeth’s impressive collection of diamonds have always fascinated me…. and I am so excited that an exclusive exhibition will be held this summer showcasing her entire collection to the public to celebrate her Diamond Jubilee.

will be part of the 2012 Summer Opening of Buckingham Palace from 30 June to 7 October.

The event will include an unprecedented display of a number of the Queen’s personal jewels that have been either inherited or acquired during her reign. It will also reveal how many of these extraordinary stones have undergone a number of transformations, have been re-cut or incorporated into new settings during their fascinating history and will also feature the many ways in which her diamonds have been used by British monarchs over the last 200 years….

This is my very favorite set from the royal collection

Aren’t they just fabulous? If you are in London during this time make sure you go and have a look!!!

My House Nightclub

My House Nightclub is a new club concept which is created and completed by Dodd Mitchell. The interior design of the club interprets a typical party in a house where you have bedrooms and living rooms and other design elements typically found in a home!!!

This concept allows you to imagine entering someone’s private home ….only that you are there to party. It defies all the rules of typical club designs and allows you to enjoy the comfort of a home.

I think that it’s actually cool and I love the concept… but what I really love is the interior design of the place. It’s fun yet relaxing…. The smart use of furniture, the great lighting, and the accessories are all perfect and very well thought of!!!

Black Is The New Black

The nineteenth annual amfAR Cinema Against AIDS gala which was held during the Cannes film festival included a full-scale fashion show (Cannes’ first ever!) on Thursday the 24th and was curated by none other than ex-French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld.

The whole thing was, of course, for a good cause. Roitfeld went for an all black dress theme which was très chic and included beautiful creations from Balenciaga, Roberto Cavalli, Chanel, Christian Dior, Giorgio Armani, Givenchy, Louis Vuitton and Versace….. They were all auctioned off as a single lot!!!

What can I say….. Black is ALWAYS the new Black!!!

Book of the Week: Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!

This post is dedicated to my 3 cheeky little monkeys!!!… This is one of their favorite books!!!

Former Sesame Street writer Mo Willems’s Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! is the first in his pigeon series and received the prestigious Caldecott Honor.

The story begins with the bus driver asking the reader to watch the bus for him while he takes a break. Our favorite part in this book is the hilarious double page spread of illustrations showing all of the pigeon’s techniques to convince us to let him drive the bus…”How ’bout I give you five bucks?” is my son’s favorite line and “joke” at home!!….. Every time I’m upset or say something like “I will tell your Dad”, my son goes “how ’bout I give you 5 bucks?…. he gets me every single time!! lol

Willems is a master of comic timing; each page anticipates the reader’s response and moves the story along in the pigeon’s emotional journey….

I think that the genius of the book is that the kids recognize themselves in the pigeon, but at the same time they get a chance to reverse the roles and play the “grown up” and say “No!”….I highly recommend this book (in fact the whole series) if you have cheeky little monkeys like mine because it’s just great for demonstrating expressive reading.

Let There Be Light!!!

Carola Vannini Architecture redesigned an apartment located close to the Colosseo area of Rome. I love so many things about this place but I especially love the lighting design. Look how the kitchen was designed as an isolated volume, separated from ceiling and floor, through continuing led lights… It sort of gave importance to the kitchen that it otherwise wouldn’t have gotten!!!

Diane Kruger Did It Again At Cannes!

The starlets have been out on the red carpet in full force during the 65th Annual Cannes film festival this year, but no one is doing it better than Diane Kruger!!! I’ve already spoken about her here but couldn’t resist doing so again….. For the Amour Premiere at the Palais des Festivals, Diane opted to go for a custom-made rose gold sequinned strapless Vivienne Westwood Couture gown……I loved that she styled it up with minimal accessories to let the dress do all the talking. That Vivienne Westwood gown is from the Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee Collection so I think that it was the right dress at the right time!!!

Karl Lagerfeld’s Commentary on the Queen’s Jubilee!!!

Karl Lagerfeld will be a fashion commentator on the France 2 network live during Queen Elizabeth’s jubilee this June…..Lagerfeld previously commentated on William and Kate’s wedding last year for the same network…. I loved it … Though his comments were sometimes a bit rude, they were really funny!!!…..For example, when he saw Princess Beatrice he said “Where did she find that hat, in a bin? It’s atrocious,” and I remember him saying “It looks like she’s wearing a sofa on her back!’ on another attendee’s tapestry coat!!!…I guess it’s more acceptable when old people say stuff like that? … In any case, he was more entertaining than any other commentator that day!!!
